When the switch fails, the two indicators disagree and the "Shift to Park" message is displayed. Thanks for this video and part number! Just fixed mine and this was great to watch. I was able to get the bolt off with a normal 10mm socket. Did have some trouble pulling the bolt all the wayout, so left it partially in and just "pinched" into the side plastic wall. 2.
GM will likely be able to bury this problem because it appears the problem was identified and later corrected. 2016 - 2018 Malibus and Volts have the same issue, as do 2017 - 2018 Acadias. The 2018 Traverse can have it as well. You can try to call the GM customer number at 800-222-1020 and file a case number. Share.The dash said "shift to park" lol. Also, pressing the brake while you jiggle the shifter can help too. Or 2) exercise the shifter from park to low and back 3 or 4 times. These are work arounds.

I have a 2018 High Country when it was new it had the shift to park issue and was told by the Dealer, they replaced the whole shifter. The car has 26000 miles.
