I know that the pattern comes from activity completion and not the chest, so I'm wondering if the this is problem could be in-play here. That's the same problem the exotic glaives have now too. The Hunter glaive also has a faster rate of fire than the others which can catch people by surprise sometimes. The Hunter one is actually really fun with Arc 3.0. The drop rates are super low, and aren't character dependant - you can get all 3 on one class. The drop chance is far too low for what the glaives actually provide as well. I’d love to see the numbers for what percentage of players actually have all 3, I bet it’s super low.

The pattern doesn't drop randomly from wellspring, to get it you have to fully complete all of the evidence board quests at the enclave until you get the last one, called REVERSE-LURE. After completing that it should just give you the exotic pattern.

It's just fundamentally a bad design. It has NO perks so the default glaive feels more exotic, with impulse amplifier, frenzy and psychohack on my enigma it's the one that feels like an exotic weapon and that's not considering the suppression mod or void3.0. The gameplay loop to use the exotic perk is terrible.
